Coach Omar

Head Coach 11-U Elite

Omar was born in Harbor City, CA and raised in Lomita CA. Omar attended Narbonne high school and was a four-year varsity lettermen baseball player. Omar following graduation earned a D1 scholarship out of high school to the University of Texas Pan American, of the Western Athletic Conference. Omar transferred to LA Harbor College and finished his collegiate career at Marymount California University.  In 2019 he earned his Undergraduate degree in Multidisciplinary studies, with emphasis in Human Performance and Psychology.

Some accomplishments as a player:  2012 Marine league MOP, 2012 All Daily Breeze first team, 2012 & 2013 CIF LA All City player, 2012 ESPN All State Second team, 2015 All South Coast Conference Second team, 2018 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes First Team All California Pacific Conference Honors. Capping off the season with a 358-batting average, 7 Home Runs, 412 OBP, 49 RBIs, and 35 runs.  

Following an awesome career on the field Omar began coaching in 2016, where he was an assistant under his older brother Carlos Avila.  Omar has competed with his teams in Florida, Las Vegas, Arizona, and Colorado. Omar took over as head of the 11-U Top Notch Elite team in the 2018-2019 season. Under his leadership the team finished 2nd place out of 32 teams in the Triple Crown World series in just his first season as head coach. Coach Omar’s philosophy is to provide the opportunity for athletes to achieve their full potential through constant hard work, dedication, and commitment while having fun. He believes in developing kids skills sets, fundamentals, character and confidence that will prepare them for later in life.
